New: See Pictures from 2006 Engineers Week here. The Chemical Engineering Car Team (or ChE Car) is a student organization at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. It gives students the opportunity to participate on a multidisciplinary team. The team-oriented environment builds skills necessary in today's engineering world. The team constructs a chemically powered shoe-box sized car that will run for a certain precise distance and then stop via some chemical process. An hour before competition they're given that distance (anywhere between 50 and 100 feet) as well as a volume of water the car must carry. The car that stops closest to this mark without going past it wins. The ChE Car is a part of the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing and Production (CAMP) here on campus. This organization promotes interdisciplinary teams at the School of Mines. If you are interested in helping our organization, donations can be made through the SDSM&T Foundation Giving Club. Please specify that you would like your donation to ChE Car. Or, if you have any questions about the team feel free to email our webmaster, Isaac Himanga.
